The practical Test
Your driving test will start with an eyesight check and some vehicle safety questions. You will then start your practical driving test which will include some specific manoeuvres.
The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes. Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises. You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test.
At Halo Driving School you will cover all the relevant parts of the syllabus throughout your course of lessons. You will be given a handout covering the "show me/tell me" questions.
We will monitor your progress on your drivers record chart and will advise you when we think you are ready to take your test. Use of the instructors car can be arranged for the test, however this is at the instructors discretion and we have the right to withold the use of the vehicle if we feel you are not ready.
During your time training with Halo Driving School, we endeavour to give you as much support and advice as you need, so we can give you the safest and best possible start to your driving career. We encourage all pupils to ask any question at any time (about driving of course !)
The DSA states that each pupil should have a minimum of 20 hours instruction but recommends at least 40. Once you are a qualified driver the DSA also recommends that you take the Pass Plus course, which could help to reduce your insurance costs.
